Thank you, Jim! No, I haven't used Revo-Uninstaller, although I've heard
good things about it. I finally did remove the .NET Framework and NET
Framework Setup keys from the Registry. I also ran once again the .NET
Framework cleanup tool. And I still show two versions of .NET Framework in
Add/Remove Programs. I've reported this to the Microsoft tech person, and
I'm waiting to hear what to do next...

To clean up the Add Remove info, download Crap Cleaner from download.com
Great free program.
Install options for me are to
"show as right click on Recycle Bin"
There are 2 commands:
OPEN
RUN
Open lets you choose options and see what WILL be cleaned up
The first time , decide what you would like to "normally do" and uncheck the
other boxes on each tab ( LOTS of possibilities)
Run just "does it" ( whatever boxes have been checked by default/
previously)
IF unsure , choose OPEN , then check the items you would like cleaned up,
then elect to " Backup changes?" and save those files. If you should then
find out you want it 'the way it was' just run the REG file that was saved.
The documentation is good and once you use it a few times you'll see how
useful it can be .... purge all temp files, cache, old unused registry
startup commands, removing dropped pointers etc.

Thank you, Bobb! I do use CCleaner regularly--but not to clean out the
Registry. The thing is that with my current problem, the key is no longer in
the Registry but the program versions still show up in Add/Remove Programs.
I'll keep working on it!

Jo-Anne,
the Registry cleanup feature is the best part of the program.
IF it "still shows up" it's in the registry somewhere.
In CCLeaner - left margin - Tools - add.remove
IF you click something that HAS been removed and yet still appears the
program will prompt you" Program does not exist , do you want to delete the
entry?" Or something similar.

Thank you again, Bobb! I've copied your post to my hard drive for future
reference. For now, though, with great trepidation, I was able to delete the
..NET Framework entries from Add/Remove Programs--one set through the
Registry and one within Add/Remove Programs. I don't know whether I want to
reinstall .NET Framework, although it appears that my Dell laptop wants it
when it starts.
