is it posible that "nero burner" is not compatible with xp "write to cd"
feature?
i had nero 5.5 and xp sp1 was not able to detect "recordable media".
after nero uninstalled, "write files to cd" is ok.
it seems that nero "locks" writing part of system.

is it known, maybe some other nero version required?

thanks in advance.

I use Nero 5.5.8.0 and InCD 3.2.7.1 with XP Pro SP1.
They both work for me. However...

From Nero Readme...
[[Go to your Windows Explorer or My Computer and right click on your
Recorders drive letter, and then go to the "Recorder" Tab and in that window
disable the option for "Enable Recording on this Drive".]]

The inbuilt burning arrangement is a very basic one that does a lot less
than Nero, and achieves the same sort of disk that Nero itself does.
Also its pseudo drag and drop would conflict with Nero's associated
InCD (which does a true drag and drop to a CD-RW). So installing Nero
disables the inbuilt burning, and it should be left that way
