James
Since you did not answer to what Jim asked in his post to you asking if it does show in Windows Explorer I had no other choice than to answer with what I posted. Jim also believed the same if I am not mistaken.
Now as far as this issue of yours is concerned, can you answer to the following below and I am understanding that it does show in the Bios and you are having problem seeing them with your software.
Does both drives show in Windows Explorer
In Device Manager does both the Drives show without any errors.
Is your CD and DVD Drives have the latest drivers.
Have they worked with your software before
And which software is attached to them
--
I've provided all the information you need.
You seem to not realise who you are dealing with. I'm not an "end
user". I'm a techie. I've been building computers for 10 years and I
still remember MSDOS commands.
If you ask me why I "ASK FOR HELP" then you'll really put your foot in
it. Because it means you answer positive to my anticipation of the
possibility that you're a real pots.
You sound like a pots already, asking "what software is attached to
them (my CD drive, and my DVD drive)".
Does both drives show in Windows Explorer
yes.
The first post was all you need to know
The second post told you the obvious, that yes they are.
In Device Manager does both the Drives show without any errors.
yes.
see previous answer.
This is not a device manager issue. The drives work fine.
I can put a CD or DVD in there and read it. They show in windows
explorer.
The problem is as I said it is.
It sohuld be blatantly obvious anyhow, given that I said about the
Administrative and Non-Administrative account.
Is your CD and DVD Drives have the latest drivers.
!!!
You mean firmware, don't you.
How about showing your analysis here, show me why you ask the
questions you ask.
if it doesn't have "the latest drivers" then why might it cause the
problem I described?
you sound like a tech support guy I spoke with on the phone years ago.
He was asking me if I had a floppy disk in the drive. I know where he
had gone wrong. It must've been the first decision thing (you know,
diamond shape) on a flowchart he had, and he must've been going
through the procedure to diagnose if a computer wasn't booting. I was
in windows fine.
Have they worked with your software before
come on..
I don't know if I've ever tried to burn a Cd or DVD from a non
administrative account. It's possible i've never tried it
I told you. I've given you all the information you need.
If you want more information then say why.
And remember, you're tlaking to a techie here. I know the person doing
something to screw it up. If I thought I had done something, i'd say
so.
And which software is attached to them
I told you what software I am running.
You're only providing entertainment.
I'm more interested if anybody has any ideas. Any intelligent
analysis.
You should have been able to see that you're not dealing with an idiot
user here. Your powers of this kind of perception are limited. But
this is common amongst some IT Technicians. Their understanding of
people is so limited that they can't even spot a technical type when
they are one themselves.
Reminds me.. I was speaking to some idiot IT Technician in the IT Dept
at work. He wasn't very bright, later he even told me he was a bit
slow. He didn't know what I meant when I said "BIOS Boot menu". But,
anyhow, I wasn't prejudice initially, I asked him if he knew of a good
make of router that isn't prone to overheating. He said he's never
heard of the problem, and he asked me if I had the router near a
radiator. Idiot !! I imagine you'd have asked me that too, wouldn't
you?
