Can't burn CD's

Have Sony DRU800A drive. Altho, I've been doing this for some time, now I
can't burn cd with Windows Explorer. Trying to copy file from My Doc using
drag and drop. CD drive plays ok, and I can burn via the Nero program that
came with the Sony Drive. Have re-installed Sony softeware that came with
drive. I receive error message that the D: drive is not accessible.
Incorrect function. Srange. Thanks

Thanks....I am very reluctant to enter the mine file of registry edit. I've
never done this and I equate this with Russion Roulette.

I should have mentioned that this is a Sony DVD-RW drive. I am able to
record onto the drive using Nero, but if I get into My Documents, and right
click on a file that I want to burn to a CD (not a DVD), then go to Send to,
my "D" drive is not listed as
destination option as are my 3 1/2 floppy and Zip drives, etc.

It's wise to be cautious when editing the registry but it's not quite as bad
as you believe. Just be careful and only make the changes indicated.
Create a system restore point before changing the registry (the registry is
backed up in a restore point),

Also I recommend you use ERUNT to regularly backup the registry as well.
When set up properly if the computer won't start because of a registry
problem a backup of the registry made with ERUNT can be restored from the
recovery console. Here are some links for getting/setting up/using ERUNT

Lastly when using the registry editor, save a copy of the key about to be
edited by using the File | Export command from within regedit, to save a
copy of the key.
