Nero & Vista?

H

Huib

Hi,
Currently i am using Nero on my ME PC (new labtop with Vista ordered).
I was reading somewhere that the burning function is included in Vista.
Correct? In that case Nero no more needed?

Regards
Huib

Hi Huib,

Yes there is a native burner, however using a product like Nero provides
considerable more functionality. One example is the ability to handle disk
image files (.iso's). If all you do is copy files to disk for backups, then
you likely will need nothing else.

Only more recent versions of Nero work under Vista. The built-in
burning utility is a "Basic" functionality tool. Things like Disk Copy,
ISO burning are still outside the scope of Vista burning.

I built a new system and installed Nero 7 Ultimate 7.7.5.1. I had a
lot of issues with getting it installed/running. I've recently read a few
postings where long time Nero users aren't real pleased with Ahead's
latest offering. Eventually, I had to uninstall Nero 7 and use something
else on the Vista desktop. If you check around on the web you'll find
a few "Free" burning applications that are Vista compliant.

No problem with Nero 7.7.5.1 on Vista here after using the 6 series with Win
XP for a long time. I was surprised that I couldn't do something as basic as
make copies of my music cd's with Vista's own software. Staples had Nero on
sale for $59.00 and that solved the issue...after downloading the new
version of Nero 7 ultimate.

Appreciate knowing that Ultimate can work on Vista. You just never
know if a program will work or if your particular setup is at fault. I do
know that Ahead's web download is about as slow as Adobe and it
took a long time to download the 196 Megabyte package.

There also a "gadget" that is available for Nero after you install the
latest version on Vista, pretty well thought out upgrade.

After installing Nero 7.7.5.1 right click on your sidebar and select add
gadgets. Left click on the search pane and select all gadgets and you'll
see Nero Disc copy.
