Nero hijacked music file icon

I updated to Nero 7 and all the icons for the music files are nero
icons despite the fact that WMP11 is set as the default player. This
also shows up in the file association, but the nero icon persists. To
top this off, dbPoweramp has a small utility that provides a pop up
window for all the music files showing the ID3 tag information and
other file information...this is a neat utility. With files with the
Nero icon, this popup does not work as well, only showing restricted
or limited information and not the complete ID3 information.

I don't even know what to call this substitution, but it happened
during Nero setup and is not something I enabled...so it is like some
default I overlooked. There is no information in the Nero help on this
and it is a pain in the neck to uninstall Nero just to re-install it
without knowing how the issue arose in the first place.

Anyone have a clue how to get the Nero music file icons to revert??

Thanks for any help.

Open up WMP11 and change the association back to that program...
right click just right of the arrows...tools...options.....file
types............check the ones you want WMP11 to play

I didn't know about that association...thought it was only through the
windows explorer menus...but it didn't make any difference. the icons
stay the same and the pop up window still doesn't show the ID3 data.

Any other ideas. When I tried to make the change, a process started
that took about 3-4 minutes to complete. But, nothing seems to have
changed. Am I missing something??
