How can it be free when an exchange of funds is requested?

That URL is a Parked site. Nothing is free there and most probably it
does not link up anywhere with the Nero download site

Be leery of advice from a SPAMMER. They have a different agenda than
their pretense of giving help. This one does know how to put his spam
in a signature as evidenced by his first posts but refuses to do so
now because he is scared of newsreaders that strip off signatures.
He wants to ensure to shove his spam in your face.
VanguardLH said:Sorry, Twayne, but nero.org is a parked domain (i.e., TuCows chose to
squat on it hoping that Ahead will buy it from them for their Nero
product recognition). To get recompense for parking the domain, they
allow advertisers to put their content on these parked pages. They
disclaim any responsibility for the content of those ads or in the web
sites to which they point (because they know the content ranges from
fraudulent to malicious).
If you follow the links, and then look at the "free" download links,
they are NOT for Ahead's domain (nero.com). They are, for example:
Nero 9: Free download
nero.9-ultra.com
This domain's registrant hides behind GoDaddy's private registration
service. 208.118.54.247 is assigned to Alchemy Comm, webhoster for
this faker's site. This site wants to avoid legal disputes with
Ahead for using the trademarked "Nero" product name so you will
notice at the bottom of their home page that it says:
Disclaimer: Nero is a registered trademark of Nero Inc., which is not
affiliated with 9-ultra.com. 9-ultra.com is neither a franchisee nor
part of the authorized sales force of Nero, Inc. 9-ultra.com merely
provides a link to Nero, Inc¢s software program.
Since they are merely providing links back to Ahead's Nero product,
and since Ahead doesn't have freeware versions of their Nero product,
the "Free download" means only EXACTLY what it says: the *download*
is free, not the product! The "free" download gets you the TRIAL
version of Nero.
The "free" links to other sites have similar disclaimers. You get the
download for free. No one cares about that. It is WHAT they get for
that free *download*, and that is the trial version of Nero. Some try
to make you "join" their service which means they want you to divulge
your e-mail address for a product that isn't theirs and for a download
of a trial version. Some stick you with their special
"downloader.exe" program which isn't from Ahead, so who the hell
knows what you chose to have them run on your host.
Mike Hall - MVP said:I tried every link for Nero software and they all wanted money.
Perhaps you could tell us which link can be used which does not
provoke a call to pay?
Twayne said:It does however have the freebie version which I downloaded and checked
out/used momentarily; I'd call that "free" in the usual sense of the word.
I didn't check to see where the download site laid; all I was interested
in was the download and whether it was reliable, real, safe, stable and
legit. Which it seems to be.
You could be right but since it's not a major player in my toobox I'm
not inclined to check it any further. Google had nothing bad to say about
the site but that's as far as I went researching it. I'm not sure "most
probably" is worth the effort to work out at this point.
Since it was so easy, I will give you this much:
.ORG has addresses in Canada.
.COM has addresses in Germany.
I'll let you draw your own conclusions as neither was the result I
expected. See below.
Also, to be honest here, if you are trying to say the ORG is a phony site
or something is wrong with it, it would do the posters a lot more good to
see more than "most probably" and why it's important that it links up to
the COM site. I say that because the ORG is the address I've always used,
not COM, although I think I have ended up at COM in the past. This last
visit I didn't notice whether it took me there or not.
Regards,
Twayne

I don't argue most of your verbosty except that I did download a
free version of Nero. Most of what you point out is honest and
above board; where is the bogosity? I clicked, I got, and it
worked. You can, too. And I'm sure even you can tell the
difference between a "free" download and a no-charge program, or a
gratis program, etc.. This stuff is all pretty childish and
pointless. You give info, but it's of little use and it even
refutes what I've done and waht I said I did. Go figger.
It does however have the freebie version which I downloaded and
checked out/used momentarily; I'd call that "free" in the usual
sense of the word.
I didn't check to see where the download site laid; all I was
