I tried installing Nero 7 Ultra and ran into a problem. The installation
stopped near the end and just sat there! It sat for about a hour when I
decided to use the task manager to kill it. After rebooting, I now find
that it isn't in the programs menu and it is in the "add remove programs",
but it won't uninstall.

I tried updating it, but no success. I also tried installing Nero 6 but it
says there is a newer version already there, and I should uninstall it
before installing version 6.

What to do?

I did a new install of vista beta 2 on a Gateway 2.6 GHZ with 1 Gig of
memory and a GE Force 5500 graphics card and a Samsung Syncmaster 930B
monitor.

Also, anyone having trouble with sun java 1.5.6?

I had the same issue...I played around with selecting different components
to install in Nero 7 Ultra. I basically gave up but with all the msgs on the
newsgroups about it, I actually tried and successfully burned a DVD without
any issue.

Of course I have no menu items...but it's not hard to add them.

Go to your Program Files (x86) Nero directory and run the main exe and try
burning a CD or DVD. It worked for me...I know other have had to slow down
the burn rate, but I had no issue running full speed..and I was running
music (WMP11), Outlook, and browsing the web while it burned.

Give it a try...I'll uninstall and try what I did before to see if it still
works if you can't get the right combination. Don't install InCD..and I
forget the other part that you have to avoid.

I tried to install it and all I got was the decompressing of the files-then
it went away. I will probably wait until they release the new version, soon
I hope, and try again.

This version works good for me, and installs without errors.

There is a later 6.6 version, but it seems to have installation issues.

Try a restore to a date prior to the Nero install.
