Nero 7 Question

I downloaded Nero 7 Ultra Edition and haven't been able to get it
installed on my XPpro SP2 machine. I get a DOS window that pops up and
disappears very quickly (so quick that I can't read any message if
there is one), and that's it - nothing else happens. Tried doing this
on a fresh reboot too with the exact same result. Any help or ideas
would be greatly appreciated. TIA

Additionally, many users are reporting that Nero 7 breaks MCE 2005. Particularly the DVD burning features.

What is MCE 2005?

Some have dropped Nero 7 and went back to 6.

Most likely you aren't logged in as Administrator, but you need to be
to install this application.

Also, just in case, disable your firewall while installing - then
re-enable it immediately afterwards. Nero needs to contact its server
a number of times during the installation process, if I remember
correctly, and since you probably haven't yet set up your firewall to
allow it to do that, this could be an issue.

PS- One NG posting would have been fine...

Thanks for the replies everyone... Nero 7 'seemingly' is pretty buggy
stuff so far. Not sure I saw an option to download version 6 - I'll go
back and take a look. They must not have had much beta testing going
on judging from the way it behaves on Windows machines.

Ha! If only it were that easy, Plato.

Nero used to have a semi-reasonable response time, but for the last
year + I was using Nero Ultra 6, they stopped responding at all.

Now, they are hit or miss. Pretty much a known issue at CD/DVD forums.

Well yes nero is losing its touch with society.

Apps. come and go. Websites come and go.

I think that Nero has about the worst tech support I've ever seen
anywhere and have to wonder if the whole thing isn't a guy working out
of his garage who happens to be on vacation. I've sent an email WAY
BACK and not heard anything, have been unable to uncover precisely what
the difference is between Nero Ultra and Nero Premium or even fix my
problem that I've described here.

Nero 7 Ultra is only distributed in the USA and includes NeroMix
whereas Nero Premium does not even though, Premium *seems to be* the
better of the two. I've seen it cost more online and the Nero site
asks if you'd like to upgrade "include you serial number to see if you
qualify", etc.

This sounds like a vent and it is I guess but thus far, I'm hard
pressed to see where Nero is a 'gold standard' for anything.

Nope;

Absolutely rock solid on all four machines that I own. Its Pinnacle that
is buggy. If you look up the work buggy in the dictionary, you'll find a
picture of the Pinnacle box!
