My labtop was running low on battery and I closed the computer yop shut
without shutting down the computer itself. Upon reopening the computer the
background, icon and every other inage wiht color was in a negative image
format. I have no idea how it changed or what to do to fix it back to a
normal color scheme. I have tried shutting it down and restarting
it...nothing changed. Any help would be appreciated.

What does a negative screen mean?

If you have Windows XP installed perform this:

1.) Try this. right click on a empty area of the Desktop(the main screen of
your computer).
2.) Click on Properties
3.) Go to Themes tab
4.) Under Themes > Choose Windows XP

Hope this gets the desktop (the main screen of your computer) back to normal.

Also make sure that the color resolution is 16 bit or greater.. it may
be set at 16 colors.
