Windows appearance defalting to xp style at startup

I like using the windows classic style on my computer. Irecently set my
computer up in a raid 1 format and reinstalled windows xp pro. I reset my
desktop settings to windows classic with a background of my choice and the
windows classic appearance in the marine color scheme. Evry time I restart or
start up after a shut down, the appearance changes to windows xp style with
standard colors. Is there any way to insure my computer saves my settings?
Apply and OK are not saving the appearance settings, all other settings are
staying as I set them.

Check your event logs - I suspect you have profile problems.
You might download the User Profile Hive Cleanup utility from Microsoft and
install it.
