NEEDED: MS ACCESS 2003 Consultant

M

mpmason19

Our company has been using Lotus Approach database software since the
early 90's until last year when we migrated to MS Access 2003.

Problem: Our database is NOT normalized, therefore creating redundant
and inconsistent information, as well as disorganized data. When the
databases were ported to Access last year, we did the best we could to
make the redundancy and inconsistency of data as little as possible.
Unfortunately we could only accomplish this task to a certain extent,
and as a result we are now experiencing scalibilty and normalization
issues.

Solution: We are looking to hire a consultant that will assist in
normalizing the data in our database (comprised of data over 20 years
old). The consultant should also be able to provide minimal support
if needed. The tables are not organized the way we want them to be,
and this is preventing us from creating easy to use forms and a bigger
hassle creating reports based on the data. Currently all data for a
record is stored in one table, except for smaller tables for combo-
boxes and the like.

If you or anyone you know is interested in assisting us in this
procedure, please contact Matt at "masonm at intersci dot com"

Thank you.

do you live in Bellevue?

if you're doing new development; I really reccomend moving to SQL
Server and using Access Data Projects

the Enterprise-Level tools that are available for SQL Server make this
much more palatable

We are not looking to redevelop the database, just normalize all the
data in it. Any other actions can be discussed later on. Sorry that
I didn't mention it before, but we are located in Troy, NY. Check out
our website for more information about us: www.intersci.com

We are looking for someone that can come on site and help us - online
collaboration may be possible, but in person is preferred.

look chump

of course you're redeveloping the database

but using Access MDB? in the year 2007?

anyone using MDB for anything in the year 2000- when every vendor has
a free db solution-- is just god damn ridiculous

fire anyone using MDB for anything and then spit on them

Hope that helps

Per mpmason19:
We are not looking to redevelop the database, just normalize all the
data in it.

Be prepared to do some re-developing at some level. After all, how did it get
to it's current state if not from some inadequacy in design?
