Need to uninstall & reinstall Internet Explorer 6.0

I am not technically inclined & just need to know the
correct way to uninstall & reinstall my Internet Explorer
6.0 application.
I am running Win XP-Home edition
I have been told to do this as follows by a colleague but
want to confirm:

- Insert my original XP-Home edition CD I've got.
- Then access the 2nd drop down menu( I think it is Other
installation tasks??)
- A screen comes up with a bunch of programmes e.g.
Internet Explorer, Outlook Express, Networking etc etc etc
- It mentions you should tick the boxes next to the
applications you want to uninstall/install

Currently the tick box next to Internet Explorer is ticked

Must I untick this & follow the "next" prompts to delete
the app & then reaccess this menu option & retick the box
to reinstall IE 6.0??
Also must I shutdown my PC & rebbot to enable the
reinstallation

any help appreciated
