Need to reduce size of PST file

I'm running Outlook 2000. My PST file is at 1.2 Gigs. I think this is what is
making my computer run REALLY SLOOOOW. Is there a way to reduce the size of
the PST file? I have tried cleaning all folders and reduced everything by
about 80%. It did nothing...

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Rightclick the root of the folder-> Properties-> button Advanced-> button
Compact Now... This will remove the white spaces from the pst-file

Compact your file: Tools|Services|PersonalFolders|Properties|Compact

Thanks for both replies! I'm on W2K running Outlook 2000. I couldn't find
either of your suggestions.

Gordo, there is no "Services" option under the Tools menu.

Roady, the only option similar to what you suggested was "Compress Contents
to Save Disk Space" under the Advanced tab. I tried that and it reduced the
size of the file by about 100k (1.06GB to 956K). But, when I uncheck the
option, the file goes back to 1.06 GB.

If either of you can give me further directions, I would greatly appreciate
it!

P.S. Roady, I did 2 postings because I got an error message telling me the
