need to map F1 to run batch file

Matt

I am looking for a way to map the F1 key to run a batch
file, instead of the standard Microsoft Help stuff. I
know how to swap mappings from one key to another, i.e.,
when you hit the backspace key, the letter F is typed,
etc., but I want to actually map a command to one of the
function keys.

I don't want to use any outside software. Is there a way
to do this? I have been looking at things like doskey,
ansi.sys escape sequences, etc., but I can't seem to find
a way that will work in Windows and not just in a command
console.

Thanks!

Matt

Seeing that F1 is universally used as a Help key, your idea
of assigning it to a batch file sounds like Matt vs. the rest of
the world.

Still, if you insist on confusing the living daylight out of your
users, you can create an icon on the desktop that invokes
your batch file. One of the icon properties is to assign a shortcut
key to it, e.g. F1. Good luck!
