Need to copy favorites to another computer / erase existing favori

I need to transfer favorites from one computer to another. The target
computer has a list of favorites in place. I want to erase it so when the
new list is imported it will replace, rather than add to, the existing list.
We can not find an efficient way to remove the long list of existing
favorites on the target computer. They must be removed one by one. What is
the best way to remove the existing favorites?

Go to C:\WINDOWS\favorites > hightlight first favorite file > press Ctrl
+ A > Delete.

Go to C:\Documents and Settings\<your user name>\Favorites and highlight all
(CTRL-A) and then (CTRL-D or Delete)

I followed this, but on closing and re-starting MS IE, the old favorites are
still there. This means if I try to add the favorites from the other
computer that have been exported to a file, they will appear in addition to
the remaining favorites.

Tom.,

Something like that happened to me so I deleted the offending file(s)
from the Recycle Bin and then all was well. Just a thought.

Hi Tom :)

You don't mention which version of Windows you are using, but, you might try
the following:

First, if Windows 2000 or XP, be sure you are logged on as Adminsitrator.
Ignore if it does not apply.

Next, make sure all instances of IE are closed. Find the folder location for
the Users Favorites and make a backup copy. Then delete all the files and
folders in the Favorites folder. Then delete the folder and reboot.

If that don't work, then restart in Safe Mode and try to delete it from
there.

also....

Create a new Favorites folder as per the instructions here

Hope this helps :)
