Importing Favorites

I have tried importing and exporting Favorites from one computer to another.
The Wizard tells me that I successfully imported (or exported) the
Favorites, but they don't show up in the Favorites pull-down list of the
destination computer. The list shows that it is empty. However, if I try to
add a webpage to the Favorites list of the destination computer, all the
Favorites folders show up in the 'Add Favorite' window. Then if I try to add
a webpage to a Favorites folder, it acts like it adds successfully, but
still no folders show up in the Favorites pulldown list. This same scenario
happens if I try to copy and paste the Favorites folders themselves, rather
than having the Wizard import (or export) them as an .html file, from one
computer to the Documents and Settings\User\Favorites folder on the
destination computer. Why do the Favorites import successfully, but not show
up in the Favorites pulldown list or the list that shows up on the left-hand
side of the window if you click on the Favorites button on the toolbar? I
guess that I am just not import-ant enough.

Your Favorites folder may not correspond to the folders where you import and
export to and from.

Check the settings in the registry under the following key

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main
\FavoritesExportFile
and
\FavoritesImportFolder

Check that the FavoritesImportFolder corresponds with your Favorites folder
(usually c:\Windows\Favorites)
