Need to confirm before deleting a block of info

Normally when text is selected and I hit the Delete key the text disappears. Recently, when I select text and hit delete a message appears in the statue bar; "Delete Block No(Yes)?". Now, if I hit "Y" the text goes away. But why all of a sudden do I need to re-confirm my actions before I can delete the text. If anyone has a clue your help would be greatly appreciated. Sad to say we're actually wasting many work hours trying to figure out how to turn this feature off.

Click "Tools", "Options" and on the "General" TAB uncheck the two
WordPerfect help options.

Using MS Office Pro 2003: Can anyone tell me how I can program Word to delete a selected block of text by using the "Delete Key"? I now have to select the text I want to delete and use the "Edit" pull down menu and then use the "Clear Key". A real time waster. Help appreciated...

Did you try following the instructions I posted in this thread? (Tools,
Options, uncheck two WordPerfect options under the General TAB)

Bill - you are a God, I have been trying to find this answer for the past year. I was told it wasn't possible. Your answer works, I don't have children so I am sending you my first-born male cat. (just kidding) Thanks!! Janice

Thanks Bill

I was also hunting for ages to find this thing you answered well repeating Bill's answer:
Click "Tools", "Options" and on the "General" TAB uncheck the two
WordPerfect help options.

Thanks
Greg

You don't have to log in to read posts, and a search of the NG would
probably have turned up the answer. Alternatively, Googling for "Word delete
block" turns up many correct answers, including my article at word.mvps.org
(fourth hit).

The suggestions/help from "PTT, Inc." and Ms. Barnhill are both very helpful.
Thank you. I also have wasted too much time searching for a solution.

I would clarify that the two options to de-select on the tools/general menu
are (1) Help for Wordperfect Users, and (2) Navigation Keys for Wordperfect
users.
