Need replacement for google groups

Hi, I have been coming to ACF using Google Groups for a few years now
but I think it's over.

I don't like this new format one bit. I need a new way to access
newsgroups. A newsreader is not practical and sometimes not possible
since I am using various computers none of which is my own.

I like newsgroups but this new format is making searching for stuff or
even casual browsing to keep up with ACF a real hassle.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

I don't frequent Google Groups so I'm not really sure what you're unhappy
about, but this new Google Groups Beta has a different look to it:

===== everyone ,I think hates the new format, you should let them know,
if enough people took the time to tell them to go back to the old
format, perhaps they will.....
http://groups-beta.google.com/support/bin/request.py .... meanwhile
you could use ...
http://groups.google.ca/groups?as_ugroup=alt.comp.freeware .. it's
still the old format........ ========

Does going through here not still give the old format?

In case you've got a USB pen drive, you can use Dialog to read NGs anywhere.

Google groups are great but if someone has the X-No-Archive set then google
will never see the post :)

Google has changed their policy and are currently archiving X-No posts
for a couple of weeks.

Yes I so I have been told; someone already emailed me about it. New google
groups apparently do hold them for a few days then deletes them if the
x-no-archive is set. The old google groups didn't even show them.

I, for one, don't hate the new format. You can still opt to view threads
as a tree, much like the old Google Groups. One new feature I like is
that it's now much easier to remove one's posts.

Yes.

Try the alternate URLS ...
* ... ca
* ... uk
* .. 'et al' .

They sill use the "prior", & better format.

I sometimes use news.individual.net. It's free but you have to sign up. It
could take a few days before you hear back from them.

Karen....
