Hello, I just need some tips on having Win2k run as smootly and efficiently
as possible. Any suggestions on steps I can take to painless enjoyment?
(Settings, superfluous files, registry tips, etc.). Semi-advanced replies
are accepted, I'm not that much a noob. Thanks in Advance.

Do Clean Install
At the correct point do an ISO (Ghost, Disk Image)
Simple.

Workstation W2K
Do Not use the main account
Do not use the Second Administrator Account
Use a Router (reconfigure and repassword)
Use a firewall (Sygate paid version)
Use AVG by grisoft AVP (paid version)
Use Adaware correctly
Use SpyBot S&D correctly
Use HijackThis correctly
Use CWShredder correctly
Use "hosts" replacement file updated often
Do Not use I.E.
Do Not use O.E.
There are safer browsers
There are safe Email Clients
Know how to run SFC /SCANNOW
Know how to run CHKDSK /R
Know how to perform Repair Install (Inplace Upgrade)
Broadband; stay offline when not necessary
Use "Standby" on cable modems
Keep data cleaned off HDD
Know how to keep "scum" off (malware, spyware, toolbar crude, etc.)
much, much more...

OS W2K

Turn off unnecessary Services
Use individual accounts (limited privileges)

Most important

Spend a year reading, reseaching the problems and the solutions, and
helping those who get lost.

Pay attention to
Pegasus
David Patrick
Ray (at *.*)
Torgeir Bakkan
Jerald Schulman
George Hester
Mark Allen (because he compimented me) 8:o)
other (fine Care Givers)

Want to really get to where you know that you don't know anything? Do
all of that, and then begin to learn...

cheers,
don

Guess I got a little carried away.

Each of the items carries significance, but takes understanding. Take
for instance, stopping unnecessary Services. Just because someone
tells you , you don't need Service, don't go and "disable" them in an
Obsessive Compulsive manner. Do one, write it down, work with a
while, while you are trying to understand what it it's purpose is to
begin with.

I been doing NT since the day 4.0 hit the street and missed 3.51,
which had many basics that really didn't understand what I didn't
understand.
And I'm a Noob.

Man I am Maniac (and these double use words and so close sound
alikes)

Sheeze,
don
