Screen tip indicators missing - Row Height, Column Width

Before Excel 2007, in older versions, you could see the row height or column
width change before your eyes with an screen tip indicator while you
positioned the mouse pointer on the line between the rows or columns then
clicking and dragging to increase or decrease height/width. As you drag the
line the number of pixels & units was displayed in a screen tip.

Now it seems Excel 2007 doesn't do that. Or is there a way to enable this?

[I've tried other suggestions, such as going to >Office button> Excel
Options>Popular> top group> check setting for 'screen tip style' ... but no
luck. I do see screen tips otherwise, by letting the mouse pointer hover
over commands on the ribbon, e.g. Paste, Copy, etc. I don't have any odd
monitor settings - just the standard ones that were present as defaults when
I got this computer, and I am using Vista Home Premium with Aero setting on].

Is there a registry file I can change in order to enable this function?

Tools>Customize>Options then chck the screen tips box. However, you should
be able to see the changes in the name box in the top left corner even
without the screen tips being on.

Thanks... wish it were that easy, but that option doesn't fix the problem
