need Help

Hi, I was removing some registry info that was not needed
and restarted the comp. Now when windows starts i get to
the welcome screen and it stops. I can use the mouse but
there is no log in text box, it just says windows XP. I
have tried some of the restore options but cannot get it
to go any farther. Safe mode does not work either. i
have tried doing a chkdsk and it says i have some errors.
How can I fix them.

Have you tried SFC(System File Checker) ? It checks for
any corrupted or deleted system file and fixs it.

I can't seem to get to a prompt. how can i run the SFC? I
have never used it before.

Boot the CD and use the repair console to run sfc or just do
a repair install

Very curious here, what had you removed from the registry that you thought
wasn't needed?
