need help with XP reinstall

XPretard

I am in a huge mess right now and need help. Here is the
story:
I have 2 hard drives: C drive was used for XP Pro boot, G
drive was used for 2000 Pro boot. Once upon a time, I
decided to reinstall my XP Pro. By mistake, I completely
reinstalled (anew) the XP OS onto the G drive (which had
the 2000 Pro OS files) and overwrote all the other info on
that drive. As a result, I had the XP Pro OS running on
both drives. However, this time the XP Pro asked me each
time on a restart which XP version I wanted to boot from
without going into bios and changing the boot device
hirarchy.
I could not take this redundancy and decided to erase all
the duplicate XP Pro files from drive C and just boot with
another XP Pro from drive G for eternity. Everything
worked fine until a week later I noticed some really weird
and nesty XP behavior. So I decided to reinstall the XP
Pro again just on (any) one drive, and completely clean up
the other one. To my surprise, when going through the XP
installation setup the error would come up saying that
Windows could not locate or modify the following critical
file: "C:\winnt.sif". Then the setup would ask me to exit
it.
Can somebody PLEASE explain to me how I can reinstall the
XP Pro again, PLEAS?

First, disconnect one of your drives. Next go into the Bios and set the
cdrom as first boot device. Next start a clean install
of WinXP. Choose new install>advanced. Select the choose which partition
Xp installs to option. Format the partition.
and install XP. Once installed you can connect the other hard drive and
format it from MyComputer.
