I am using Vista/ Windows Mail with no issues for a year or so and recently I
can no longer send email. There is no error message but I looked into it a
little closer after not getting replies from several email I had sent out.
The email go into my out box and appear to leave as normal when sent.
I have tried emptying my out box, checked all settings with my ISP, and read
a lot of post with out seeing anything else to try.
Any help would be appreciated.
Jason

Are they still sitting in your out box? If they are, then they have not been
sent. If they are still there, try sending from there, this happens to me
from time to time and this always works for me.

no, they leave my out box like they have been sent. I started to think
something was wrong after not getting replies from multiple email. They are
not stuck in my out box, I deleted my antivirus to see if they were being
held up by the out bound scanning.
Nothing has helped so far.
They appear to be sent, they go to my sent mail folder, but they are never
recieved by the person I send them to.

I would suggest this is a problem with your ISP and not your computer. Have
you been in touch with them to see if there is a problem their end?

What happens when you send an email to yourself? Does it arrive
in your Inbox?
Is it just one recipient who never receives from you, or multiple
recipients, or all recipients?

Which antivirus did you 'delete'? (Hopefully you used the proper
uninstall feature instead of just deleting it.)

I am have the same problem. It just started yesterday and have talked with
the internet provider. Spent an hour on the phone, did all the
troubleshooting that they can think of with no luck. He figures that it is in
a new update with Vista.

Sorry, Yes we tried to send email to ourself. No it didn't work. It didn't
even show up at webmail. And it appears to be all outgoing mail. We pinged
the server and the signal is getting through.

A cup of coffee does wonders in the morning. I went to my web mail settings,
found that the setting in "Spam Filter" was on "Delete Suspected Junk Email".
Not the setting that I had tagged before. I changed it to "Tag Suspected Junk
Email". I am now able to send emails again.

i have 25 emails sitting in my outbox in windows mail and cant get them to
send. This has been going on since i got my new desktop with vista
preinstalled. i never had problems with xp or any other email.. i cant
forward them or anything HOW do i get them to send.. I used comcast or
hotmail for my mail-i dont know how vista windows got involved in any of my
emails... help (e-mail address removed) I am not getting any help from
windows vista support or microsoft hepl tech either.

Thanks for that follow-up report.
It isn't clear to me why a receive setting in webmail would affect your ability
to send.

The outfit you should have asked for support is Comcast, since
you pay them good money each month.

If you don't want to deal with Windows Mail at all, you can set
Hotmail's webmail as the default email service in Vista:

http://www.winhelponline.com/articl...e-Default-Programs-tool-in-Windows-Vista.html

Otherwise, you will need to set up an email account in Windows Mail,
either Comcast or Hotmail or both.
Comcast: see
http://www.comcast.com/Customers/FAQ/FaqDetails.ashx?Id=2288
Although those instructions were written for Outlook Express,
Windows Mail uses the same settings.

Hotmail: see
http://mailcall.spaces.live.com/Blog/cns!CC9301187A51FE33!49799.entry
Use port 587 rather than port 25 for the SMTP server.

Although it accepts the newer Live.com addresses, Windows Mail's
account setup wizard is hard-coded to reject Hotmail and MSN addresses.
To get around that, when you enter your Hotmail/MSN email address initially,
use a fake one, such as (e-mail address removed). After the account setup is complete,
go back and correct your email address.

yes they are all in outgoing box going no where for over a month now.. every
time i retry to send error boxes say my address inst valid or some stupid
thing. i have had everyone over here and they are having same problem. all i
want is my message out and then find out how to get rid of windows email
completely. this vista program has been the worst thing that we have ever
enoucntered..

Well it isn't clear to me either Gary, it doesn't say that it is incoming or
outgoing spam, just a filter.
What happens with some programs just don't make any sense either. Somewhere
it must thinks that all outgoing mail was spam and deleted it. All that I
know is that it now works for me and also a good freind of mine.
