need help with windows explorer wiered problem

when I hit the my computer icon on my desktop I am left wateing for 5
minutes and getting longer before I can use the window, the window and the
basic part of the task pane draw imedutly, but the rest takes it's sweet
time.

the same happins when I drop down the look in list in a file open dialog or
the address bar in explorer

this doesn't happin when I hit my donumants or archive folders also on my
desktop.

I have tried everyuthing I can think of to fix it, with no success.

I am think in gI maght have to reinstall windows, and maby a week later my
computer might be back up and running.

I have upgraded the bios on my mobo will that affect activation, I have
activated twice on this computer before.

I had a simoler explorer problem about 2 or 3 months after getting the
computer, reinstalling fixed the problem.

I am running windows xp pro sp1 that I added sp2 to.

forgot to mention system restore not an option I disabled it a long time
ago, kept getting viruses in the restore points and couldn't get them out

never mind
bad cdrom image in a vertual drive causing windows explorer to try to read
it and timeout
got the vertual drive to eject the disk then uninstalled the program for
those vertual cdroms and no problem anymore
