Need help with stored profile problem

I

Been having trouble lately with the internet. After being on the
internet for more than 1/2 an hour or so, pages hang up, won't load/
reload and I have to restart my computer in order to get back to the
web. Unfortunately, after this most recent restart I got a message
saying:

"Windows cannot load the locally stored profile.
Possible causes of this error include insufficient
security rights or a corrupt local profile. If this
problem persists, contact your network administrator

then a message that says:

"The system has attempted to load or restore a file into
the registry, but the specified file is not in a registry
file format"

How do I go about getting my profile back?

Your advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

I forgot to add this message which came up along with the first one
listed above:

"Details: I/O operation initiated by the registry failed
unrecoverably. The registry could not be read in, or write out, or
flush one of the files that contain the system's image of the registry"

This may help:

Also, check to make sure you have plenty of hard disk space and you should
also consider clearing your temporary internet files folder. I like to set
my options to delete my temporary Internet files when I close the Internet
browser (Internet Explorer, MSN Explorer, Firefox, etc).
