Locally Stored Profile.

I keep getting an error when I try to login in-

cannot load the locally stored profile, possible cause of error is
insufficient security rights or a corrupt local profile.

An I/O operation initiated by the registry failed.

Any help appreciated!!

If you have a alternate account, log in using the different profile
to verify it's not a system wide issue. Otherwise as the message
implied it's likely a corrupted User Hive (NTuser.Dat File). You
may have to boot Safe Mode (Administrator) and create a new
account for day-to-day use. It's then a matter of copying data
from the old profile into the new one. ( My Docs....)

Hopefully your personal data is adequately backed up (?)

Is this on a standalone system or networked on a domain?

Create another profile. Seems the other one is corrupted. Then if it works
ok, copy the settings and data from the old profile to the new.
