Need help with sp2

I have installed sp2 on WINXP pro. After reboot i lose
connectivity in my cable modem connection. I tried
uninstalling the NIC from device manager and reboot.
After boot it connects perfectly.

The problem I have is everytime I reboot I lose
connectivity, so I have to uninstall NIC again and reboot
to regain connection. Also I remove from registry the
Local Area Connection key in order to prevent several
connections.

How could I fix this, so I could restart the machine and
keep the same local area connection with valid cable
modem connection.

Try booting into Safe Mode, remove all of the NICs in Device Manager, reboot
and see if the re-detection 'fixes' your problem.
