Need help with clean Home XP install

I have a 2 ghz with a 60 gb formatted hard drive and XP
won't install. I boot off the disk and it goes through all
its install stuff but every time it tries to copy
oembios.bin it says it can't. I' have even tried my
friends disk to make sure I didn't have a bad one but the
exact same thing happened. Any recommendations??

Sometimes a CD may not be able to manage the data transfer of the larger Xp files. Try:

1. Cleaning your CD lens before installing again: if this doesn't work the
2. Copy the Folder I386 from the CD to your Hard Disk [install your HDD onto a working PC] and attempting to install by running C:\I386\winnt.exe [once back on your PC

To do this make sure you have a Windows 98 startup floppy disk: make this on a working '98 system and also copy onto it SMARTDRV.EXE from the 98 system

Once it has booted off the floppy to DOS, type in:
a:\SMARTDRV.EXE
wait for it to loa
then type in:
C:\I386\winnt.exe

It's a slower process, but you should get a working Xp system, unless there are any other hardware issues.
