Need Help With Barricade Broadband Router (SMC7008ABR)

Does anyone know if a driver(s) is needed for the Barricade Broadband
Router (SMC7008ABR)? My friend has a second-hand one he bought off
EBay a while back and wants to use it to network his 5 systems and
several printers, including a big office-type CAT5-connected printer
(Xerox DocuPrint N17 as network printer )

He says he can't get the router to work with the printer. So he
figgers that he needs a driver(s). In fact, I'm not sure he has the
router working with just his systems. The router does 'fire up', he
says. The router reports link as active, however status LEDs for
10/100M and FDX/COL are off.

Any have experience with this router and can pass along some helps?

Thanks

I have the SMC Barricade 7404WBRA which also has a print server and they
require a specific procedure to set-up. The manual on SMCs website here
explains it (for Win 2k and XP only - a special "driver" is normally needed
for Win 9x/ME clients - I had to search several SMC websites to find one
that matches mine):
..http://www.smc.com/files/AS/WIN2000&XP_Print_Instructions.pdf (pdf approx
215 kb) There is also a comprehensive manual on SMCs website. I've found
mine works well with older printers (including my Kyocera FS-1500A Laser)
but wont work properly with some of the modern ones needing bi-directional
communication - but then that's also the same with my Intel Print Server and
many others.

Thank you Paul

I forwarded it as well as the pdf file to my friend.

Let's hope he can work with it.
