need help with AVI, please

I had an AVI file. I got no image but sound when I opened
it. Media player started download codec from somewhere, it
end up with Error downloads. Please tell me where I can
get the right codec. TKS

Use GSpot to identify the codec
the movie file requires: http://www.headbands.com/gspot/ and then do a
Google search for that codec, or have a look for it here:
http://www.moviecodec.com

If GSpot tells you it's a DIVX or XVID codec you require, install this one:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/ffdshow/
