This one has me stumped.

This morning when I turned on my computer, one of my hard
drives was being reported by windows XP as un-partisioned
and unformated.

Thinking I had just lost 3 months of work, I began trying
to recover the data on the drive, but was unsucessfull.
Every recovery tool that I tryed reported that no data
was available on the drive to recover.

At this point, I started having problems with my main OS
drive. I restated the system with a hardware boot and
was greated with a "No Bootable Disk Found" error.

I restarted the system again. This time everything
started up fine. The drive that was reported as being
unpartision and unformated was fine. All the data on it
was there and I can find no errors with the drive.

The only problem I can find is a System Error that was
recorded at the time of the error. The Error Code is
0000007a, but I can find no information about this error
from Microsoft.

If anyone knows anything about what could have caused
this problem, I would be greatfull, because I'm Stumped.

Thanks

Kevin

PS - I'm currently looking into this as a Viral problem.

It is possible - if a bit like The X Files - but there has been an unusually
high level of solar activity, and surges etc have been occurring everywhere.
Maybe you were one of the unlucky ones!

Good luck,

Ed

Hi,

The problem could be either software or hardware :)
Most hard drive manufacturers put diagnostic utilities on
their website which allow you to boot from floppy and then
run tests on the drive.

I would try using safe mode first. Run A thorough Scandisk
if you can boot into an O/S. Try the manufacturer's
diagnostic util. Try reseating the cables and power for
your drives.

Regards,

Tim
