Need help repairing XP Home

I have a Dell Dimension 8200 running XP Home with Service Pack 2.
I would like to repair XP. Does anyone know where I can find a procedure for
doing this without reformatting the HD? Someone said I would have to
uninstall Service Pack 2 first. ??? I've looked in the Knowledge Base at
Microsoft, com, but there's so much information there I'm not sure where to
start. If someone could point me in the right direction it would be greatly
appreciated.
Thank you,
V

The following instructions assume that you have a true installation CD
for WinXP, and not a Recovery or Restore disk.

Not necessarily. If your current installation CD doesn't include SP2,
you can always create one the does. For slip-streaming the service pack
and subsequent updates to WinXP:

Vic,
I just did a repair of XP Home SP2 on my Dell 8250 last week.

I followed the instructions provided in the link by Bruce on how to do a
Windows XP Repair Install. It went smoothly for me. Took about 3
hours...mainly because of downloading and installing the 50+ Windows updates.

You will need the Win XP CD you hopefully got from Dell with your 8200.
An SP2 CD or create one as listed above.
