Need help removing old SP1 files on my backup drive

Hello,

I am trying to remove old sp1 files from my now backup drive. I bought a
new hard drive for my computer, so the old one became a backup drive and does
not function as my operating system drive anymore. However, without having
to reformat the drive (many other files I do not want to have to transfer or
lose), is there a way to remove the sp1 files that are inaccessible? I have
the following folders I cannot delete because there is an sp1 folder inside
them i cannot delete as they are read only and will not allow me to change
them (access denied):
1) df2e6d5ce62007317c2696925d6be4f8 - inside this folder is another folder
called sp1
2) 86dd639 - inside this folder is another folder called sp1
3) 417420a - inside this folder is another folder called sp1

These folders are not inside the windows folder, which only has a couple of
Adobe files i cannot delete either, but that is another story. I, of course,
cannot call microsoft, because technically my windows is OEM, and I cannot
call dell because my warranty is up. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I will reformat the drive if I have to, but sure don't want to. Thanks in
advance and have a great day!

Did you clone the old drive to the new one? Sounds like you did. If
so, why not reformat the old drive and then copy what you want from the
new drive back to the old one (since it should have everything on it).
That's the quickest way.

Otherwise you can take ownership of the parent folders (and subfolders),
remove System, and then you should be able to delete them. In the
Security tab, you may have to go to the Advanced button and check
"Replace permission entries..." and then Copy the permissions, and then
remove.

Taking ownership did the trick. I followed the article directions and just
got rid of what I wanted in safe mode. Thanks for the help!
