I need help in setting specific permissions to a Share using Windows XP Home
Edition. I have seen XP Professional and do not see capability in that
version as well.
I have a share on my local machine that I would like to access via the
network. In the past, using Windows 2000, I've been able to set specific
domains\userids for the share. For example, I would only assign \\a\b as the
userid for accessing the share and then I would use these same user
credentials when accessing the share from the network. This worked fine
under Windows 2000. However, in Windows XP Home, I do not see the capability
seen in Windows 2000. With XP, if I share a folder, every user who has
access to the network would have access to the share. It is basically
behaving in the same manner if I left the default permission using Windows
2000 where 'Everyone' would be associated to the share. I doubt that
Microsoft would take away the feature available in past versions. I must not
be looking in the right place.
If you know where I can set specific permissions to a share, please let me
know by sending a copy of response to (e-mail address removed).
Thanks in advance.
