Need help installing Japanese fonts for Mic. Office 2003 at my sch

Hello,

I am a Japanese teacher in central Indiana. I need Japanese fonts for the
kids to be able to use and study Japanese online. Our tech person says it
cannot be installed - that we need a lot of extras like a Proofing Tools kit
and a multi-language version of Office 2003.

I understood that, in order to install Japanese, which was already part of
Mic. Office, that all you had to do was go into the Control Panel, click that
you wanted it installed under Regional Settings, and it would ask you for a
Mic. Office CD, which would then install it for you.

Have things changed now? Do educators have to pay for asian fonts to install
them on their school computers? Everyone i am talking to says all these extra
steps my tech person wants to take, are not at all necessary. But it seems
impossible to convince her.

Someone please give me some advice. I do not think Microsoft would make it
harder to install these fonts, rather than easier. I installed these fonts on
my home computer 3 years ago with no problem. I don't understand why it would
be a problem now at my place of employment.

Thank you,

Heather C.

yes. there is a way ... (for window XP) .

go to control panel, under "regional and language option", -> language ->
check the box install files for east asian language. after a while, it will
ask you for window xp cd . just put it in the tray n click ok to continue.
install finish, will ask u to restart. restart it. n go to regional and
language option again. under text services and input language , click
details. then add the language u wan (for this case, i think you wan
japanense) so select japanese. then go to advanced. uncheck the box "turn
off advanced text services" n make sure the box "extend support of advanced
text services to all programs" is working. click ok to restart ...you sh be
able to input japanese character now.

to show the language bar , on the task bar, right click the mouse button, go
to toolbar, n check on "language bar" . your language bar sh appear now.
thats all.

regards
