What can I do to change this behavior?

1) Going from a "maximized" window to a smaller view - the transition is
very slow.
2) Opening a window over one that is already open - new window remains clear
showing what is underneath and also very slow.
3) Minimizing a window in any situation - very slow and doesn't disappear
immediately.
4) Restoring from minimized - very slow and contents do not show up very
quickly.

Windows XP Home
256K of Memory
Pentium III - 1 GHz
PNY Verto G-Force FX 5200 AGP 128 MB DDR
All drivers are up to date.

I appreciate any help.

If your computer has an onboard audio chip, consider installing
a conventional PCI sound card. You would first have to disable
your onboard audio in the BIOS. This would free up system
resources. Also consider adding another 256MB RAM and you'll
see a significant performance increase.

Here are some other tips:

Right-click on MY COMPUTER and select:
Properties > Advanced > Performance Settings
and uncheck "Show Shadows under Menus"
and click APPLY.

Thanks for your help. I installed another 256MB of memory and made sure of
the other settings. Things appear to be better at the moment.
Once again, Thanks. Carey.
