Hi
If the printer is connected to the PC it does Not matter if it is wired or
wireless the sharing process is the same.
Vista File and Printer Sharing-

Windows XP File Sharing -

Printer Sharing XP -

Windows Native Firewall setting for Sharing XP -
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/875357
However, if the printer is Wireless and Network ready it can be configured
to work with the Wireless Router, then every computer that is connected to
the Router (wire or wireless) should be capable to print to it.
If such is the case, it has be be installed as network printer. Instructions
and software should be on the CD that came with it.

If neither computer has a wifi adapter, it's pretty clear that if your
printer is connected wirelessly, it's connected to the Netgear router -
and this is how it should be.

To get the printer working on the other computer, just do what you did
on the first one -- put the printer's CD in the computer and follow the
directions to install the printer.

thanks for replying
the printer is wireless at this point although it can also connect via
usb wi-fi or hard-wired ethernet.
so i used my pc and used the installation CD. during the install. it
was necessary to temporarily connect the printer to my pc then
disconnect it afterwards.
We are sharing one other printer already which is connected to the
other pc via usb. and also sharing my external usb hard drive. So i
will see if the new printer shows up on the other pc.
thanks for you suggestions
