I have a desktop i bought back in 2000 which had 98 installed on it. A few
days back i installed XP on it. but this caused the drivers to disappear. now
i dont have internet connection. my computer is a dell dimension 4100. I
cannot even find what network adapter the dell uses. its not that i cannot
find out but the comp does show it. so I dont know which drivers to download
and from where. any suggestions?

If it's a Dell then you should be able to reinstall Win 98 and all the
drivers.
Then you might use one of the driver extraction tools to save the drivers.
Not that they will be compatible with XP but you might find out that way
which devices are installed.
Or, check out the Dell website for that computer.

What BIOS are you running? The most recent BIOS version for the 4100 is A11.

Personally, I'd consider a fresh install of XP - that means backing up
important files and reformatting the hard disk. Otherwise you may be
fighting weird problems for weeks if not months. XP over 98 has never
gone very well for me.
