Hi All,

I currently have Roxio Basic 6.1.1.48. This piece
of software is so buggy, I think it is going to drive
me out of my mind. :'(

What I need to do is cut CD-R's and leave the session
open so that I can add to it.

Does anyone have a suggestion as to an alternate CD
burner software that actually works correctly? Open Source
would be nice (Open source tends to be less buggy).

Many thanks,

Try Ahead Nero. Its not free, but it works te best of all
of the windows compatable burning programs.

How about Burnatonce: http://www.burnatonce.com/

Roxio is excellent also. After you finish burning just do not FINALIZE the
disk.
That way you can add to it later. Once you finilize you can no longer add.

Update the software.

There is nothing wrong with Roxio Easy CD Creator version 6, I use it
extensively on a large number of systems for both CDs and DVDs. But I
have the "full" product, not the stripped down version that you received
free with a burner, and I've applied the updates for it. Updates are
available for the Basic version as well, they are free, you will have to
go to the Roxio site to get them. They should fix your reliability
problems although unless you get the retail version you will still be
missing a substantial portion of the modules that are in the "full" product.

[Note, for new retail purchases, Roxio Easy CD Creator 6 has been
superseeded by Easy Media Creator 7, which adds a lot of audio, still
photo and video editing software to a very slightly improved version of
the actual burning software.]

The only other reasonable alternative is Nero, which I also have. Some
things Nero does better, some things Roxio does better. However, like
Roxio, Nero must be updated online, many of the earlier versions are not
reliable unless they are updated.

I really would not take the risks of doing that. If you are going to
remove the disk, close the session. If you want to keep it around and
add to it, defer the burn

That does not leave the *session* open, which is what he is asking for,
and which I regard as a bad idea, whatever software is used
