need backup help

I have XP Professional Edition on home PC. I want to backup "My documents" to
CDR's but all the instructions I can find say to choose "Backup" from
Accessories|System folder. My System does not have a backup choice listed.

Doing the backup manually by copying to CDR is way too time consuming a
task. Suggestions please.

You can NOT use Windows Backup to backup files DIRECTLY to CD. It just
doesn’t support it.
Manual copy is probably your best bet.

To start Windows Backup: Start -> Run -> ntbackup.exe -> OK.

Ntbackup will backup to CD only if 3rd party CD writing software is
installed and even then will only write to one CD. It cannot span CDs.

If you don't see ntbackup in that folder it could be it's not installed.
It can be installed from the windows installation CD by looking in the
\MSFT\Valueadd folder. The installation file is ntbackup.msi. If you
don't have an installation CD and it was not installed by the OEM who
built your computer, then you can download ntbackup from here:

Better backup options are a disk imaging program such as Norton Ghost,
Acronis True Image or BootitNG. A good traditional backup program,
though pricey, is Stompsoft's Backup MyPC.

Ntbackup is a legacy application that came from NT and is designed to
work best with tape drives. If you have one it works ok for that, or
with network drives. Whether ntbackup was installed when the OS was
installed depends in part whether it's an OEM installation or not. The
OEM decides what to install. If it's a retail version I am not sure why
it didn't get but in the accessories folder. It should have been.
