Need antispyware but-- please read on-- I have so many programs------

I've collected many nice free programs in the last several years, and I have
many shareware programs with login codes. I have a computer busting at the
seams with great MS, Adobe, and other programs with passwords to forums and
other things that need coded entry for internet access. I've tried several
antispyware programs, and they all have a **small window** where the
suspicious offenders pathways are not fully shown; thus, I don't really know
what I'm putting in quarantine ( I sure the heck wouldn't delete). I tried
Spy Doctor, XoftSpy, and Spybot Search and Destroy. The first two I
mentioned were trial ware( abt $40 each), and the last was freeware. I
really don't mind paying good money for a decent program if I can *see* and
*know* what the offending program is; so, I don't remove a valuable program
I have that has special cookies and passwords for me to get into an area I
paid for( like for upgrades and such). Any suggestions? How about McAfee
antispyware? Would it work in conjunction with Norton Antivirus 2005 I have
now? Thanks plenty all.

1) Download the following item...

Adaware SE
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/

2) Update Adaware with latest definitions.
3) If you are using WinME or WinXP, disable System Restore
http://vil.nai.com/vil/SystemHelpDocs/DisableSysRestore.htm
4) Reboot your PC into Safe Mode
5) Using Adaware SE, perform a Full Scan of your platform and clean/delete
any parasites found.
6) Restart your PC and perform a "final" Full Scan of your platform using Adaware
7) If you are using WinME or WinXP,Re-enable System Restore and re-apply any
System Restore preferences, (e.g. HD space to use suggested 400 ~ 600MB),
8) Reboot your PC.
9) If you are using WinME or WinXP, create a new Restore point
10) Please report back your results

I use Spybot S&D and I just stretched out the window, making it wider.
It always comes back to this stretched size, too. Maybe the others can
do that as well. AdAware can.

Spybot has a restore function, just check the box "create backup".You need
to find all those codes and passwords and put them in a safe place. There are
some programs out that can help you retreve them. I have links to some good
anti-malware programs on my site.

Thank each of you for your help. Max's web site is a great asset to all who
surf the web; its a great service. Thanks Max!! I suppose the restore
point for Windows XP should be eliminated before spyware and adware are
deleted by the anti adware and anti spyware program like David said, but
this confuses me. Why wouldn't the programs like Spybot Search and Destroy
or Ad-Aware SE Personal get the offenders out of the OS in all areas(even
hidden areas), and if system restore was done the offenders (spyware and
adware) wouldn't pop up again after doing a cleaning? It will take me a
long time to clean my system. I couldn't do what David said, or I would
have an inoperable system; I have way too many programs that are adware
(some I know are not bad - but many must be). Thanks BTS. I did give
Spybot ----- a second try and you were right; it had been a while. I was
concentrating on the shareware---foolish me.
Sincerely --Randy
