I cant access shares after running critical updates on the
XP machine. I could before. ICF is turned off. Now I get
promted for a username and password, nothing works. XP can
see shares on all other machines (2000 and 98)but they
cant see the XP shares. All machines have the same admin
user and password.

Are you *sure* XP's firewall is off? I'm not meaning to doubt you, but
have you checked since you did the updates as opposed to knowing you
didn't have it turned on before.

I have checked numerous times after the updates.
I have checked simple file sharing etc. I even ran it
through the repair OS and reinstalled SP1 rechecked ICF
and still nothing.

Oh well, it was one of those shots in the dark. The only thing I can
think of from here is to create a new user account on the XP machine
and see if that works. Otherwise, someone else in this group might have
an answer. Sorry that I don't have the magic answer for you.

Good luck,

Malke

OK, thanks anyway
