Need advice on transfering files

I need to send a bunch of scanned documents (80+ pdf files of text &
drawings) overseas but my ISP doesn't allow file transfers that large. I
also have a domain that I use for nothing other than e-mail accounts where I
do have the ability to transfer large files.

I'm thinking I could create 1/2 dozen or so zip files, put them on the
domain, create a "simple"? web page and let the user download them? I am
concerned about security though, so they would need to be in a protected
folder, which I think I can do via the VDeck control panel of my host.

Could I also just put them in a directory that has no path to it, ie... no
index or main page, and send the person an e-mail with a download link?

While this is not a project that requires FP, I do own it so I thought I'd
try to get some advice here. Any suggestions are appreciated. BTW.... I have
little to no experience.

Thanks,

David...

I send files overseas often. If you are worried about the content being seen
by others, why not make zip files and attach them to emails? I use pse 2000
for my picture editing, I have not found a better handler. <personal opinion>

Remember the receiving end, they most likely cannot receive large files
either and would require them in small batches. You could name them a, b, c.
etc.

I mostly deal in blue prints of airplane contents and electrical so I hear
ya on size. G.L.

You can create a password protected web for the downloads in FP
See http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;825451
Your host will have to support subwebs and unique permissions under the FP Server Extensions

Problem with that solution are the restrictions imposed by the ISP regarding
daily e-mail volume measured in MB, as in 5 (or was it 10) Mb per day. It
would take 7+ days to mail it all :)

Thanks!

Thanks Stefan,

Thats's a bit more complicated than what I want/can do right now.

Thanks,

But the distribution list would run up the $$

I've got the solution though, in that I've set up the files under a PW
protected FTP folder.
