windowsXP firewall free and built in.. best thing since sliced bread

It is not really a proper firewall.
Good bread is never bought sliced, tasteless rubbish is.

Agreed. The XP firewall would probably be close to the worst
recommendation one could make. Pretty well any worthwhile firewall
will have two directional capability.

Regards, John.

Only checks incoming NOT outgoing so you will never know when MS is
calling home to see if your serial # is legit. ;-)

This page:

has official info and download links for it. Personally, I would be
loath to try it. GhostWall:

http://www.ghostsecurity.com/index.php?page=ghostwall

may be a better choice, but I haven't used either of these firewalls so
I can't say.

This page has a mixture of freeware and $ware, but at least it has some
freeware:

On this page:

the freeware is clearly labeled.

These are just some of the things I found by Googling:

I don't reply to trolls like Andy Mabbett or Doc (who uses sock puppets)
for instance. No adware, cdware, commercial software, crippleware,
demoware, nagware, PROmotionware, shareware, spyware, time-limited
software, trialware, viruses or warez for me, please.
