NdisReadNetworkAddress In IM Drivers

G

Gramps

Is it required (or even a good idea) to have this call in an IM filter
driver? I don't think so, but we are failing 2c_AddressChange on Windows
2000 because of it (it passes on XP only because, as the test log states,
"this test is not valid for Intermediate Drivers").

I was hoping that there would some sort of errata from WHQL, but alas...no!

IMHO, a filter driver should not change the MAC address of the underlying
NIC.

Sir,

Please refer to page 8 line 38 just above the section "About the Signability
test" there is a note regarding test failures for IM drivers. The windows
2000 IM self test procedures ("NDIS Intermediate Drivers") are located on
our home page:
http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/hwtest/device/default.mspx?area=network

If you have any more questions about HCT network testing you can contact us
directly at WHQLNET @ Microsoft.com

Thanks,
Robert Harper
