"Navigation" Pane missing from folder view...

Hi

On all XP systems I've seen, on the left side of a folder window there is a
"Navigation" pane which displays "Files and Folder Tasks", "Other Places",
"Details" etc

This is missing on my friends new XP PC!

How do we get the left "navigation" pane?

Thanks

Ian

At Control Panel - System - Advanced - in Performance click Settings -
in the Visual Effects - Custom panel , ensure that 'Use common tasks in
Folders' is shown. Or have 'adjust for best Appearance' selected, to
check everything there, though I favor using Custom with the top ten
items *unchecked* - they do not add much and absorb quite a bit of the
machine's time
