navigation pane customization

I like having the favorites and the big buttons to navigate between mail,
calendar and contacts. But I wish we could customize the position of those
parts of the navigation pane. I would put the big buttons on top, then
favorites, then the details. I find that I am going back and forth from the
top (where my favorites are) to the bottom (to select calendar)

Unless there is some way to put calendar on the favorites. I couldn't seem
to do that.

No on customization and No on calendar in favorites. You can use the
keyboard to open the calendar - Ctrl+2.

I'd like to remove the folder tree from the middle and have more room for
favorites without scrolling. :) Maybe in outlook 12...

Actually, I like your idea better. Remove the folder tree from the middle
and have a way to show it only when you want to add favorites. Still want
the option to put the large buttons on the top though.

So, as an MVP person, do you have any way to push ideas with Microsoft?

They are very well aware of the complaints about the navigation bar and I
made my ideas known to them... while they make no promises about what will
make it in, most of the ideas on the list at
http://www.slipstick.com/emo/2004/up040820.htm#doz and some on David
Coursey's (linked in that article) are under consideration. Only time will
tell...
