Natural Keyboard Elite "USB Device Not Recognized"

I recently bought a Dell Inspirion 8500 laptop and had
Windows XP PRO installed. The 8500 doesn't come with a
ps2 port so I used the PS2 to USB converter on the
Microsoft Natural Keyboard Elite to hook up my keyboard
and I receive "USB Device Not Recognized" error. I have
contacted Dell and they say to contact Microsoft so I
thought I'd ask here first.

Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated. I
am running WindowsXP Pro totally up to date service
pack/update wise.

I would try to connect this "PS2->USB" converter straight into the root hub
of the machine. Sometimes these devices are flaky and dont respond properly.
Do you know if this PS2->USB converter has been certified to work well with
Windows XP?
