Natural Keyboard Elite PS2 - USB adapter does not work

Mie

Hello,

I like my Natural Keyboard Elite and want to use it for a
new laptop just got (Dell Inspiron 5100), which does not
have any

PS2 port. The keyboard comes with a PS2 - USB adapter,
but it does not work to connect the keyboard to both of
my desktop

and laptop's USB port. I can only use it to connect to
PS2 of my desktop. I confirmed the USB ports work using
USB mouse

(IntelliMouse Explorer).

What should I do to use the keyboard for my laptop?

I am using Windows XP sp1. So far, I installed all the
updates for it.

I really appreciate your help.

Dear Mie,

I guess the PS2-USB adapter may be bad. You can try to replace it to see if
the problem can be resolved.

I purchased a PS2 - USB adapter, but it did not work as
same as the one came with my keyboard. Do you think that
both of them are bad?

When I went back to the store, I was recommended to see
whether there is a specific BIOS setting for the USB
keyboard or not. Though, I did not see any listing of
the USB keyboard.

I could use my husband's Natural Keyboard Pro using USB;
however, the keys are too heavy and I really prefer to
use mine, Elite one.

What else can I do?

Thank you.

Dear Mie,

You may try to connect your keyboard to another computer. If the problem
still exists, I suspect the keyboard hardware may be bad.

To obtain a replacement for a defective keyboard, call the Microsoft Order
Desk at (800) 360-7561 [and request a replacement Natural Keyboard Elite
(part number 286-00111)]. If you are outside the United States, contact the
Microsoft subsidiary for your area. To locate your subsidiary, visit the
following Microsoft Web site:

http://www.microsoft.com/worldwide/default.htm

If the keyboard functions properly when you connect it to the USB port on a
different computer, you may need to troubleshoot the BIOS or USB settings
on your computer.

Hope the information above helps you.

Thank you, Tom.

I connected to my laptop, desktop and my husband's
desktop, and I got all the same results. It only works
connecting by PS2. Soon I will get another adapter to
try; though, I heard that it is rare that the adapter has
a problem.

I might need to contact the order desk for a replacement.

Thank you very much for your help!
